Today, Canisius College announced their Sports Hall of Fame class of 2012. Headlining this year’s inductees, at least from a Buffalo sports perspective, is Don Colpoys. Colpoys was the Canisius baseball coach for 25 years and lead the team to their first MAAC regular season championship in 1994 with a 17-1 conference record. Shortly after taking over at Canisius, he was able to talk Mayor Jimmy Griffin into bringing a AA baseball team to Buffalo. Colpoys served as General manager of that team from 1979-84 and convinced Bob Rich to purchase the franchise which would become the Buffalo Bisons. In 2011, Don Colpoys was inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame.
